"Dead Forever" at Ralan's Web Spectravaganza 2nd Prize 2006 Grabber Contest Illustration by Teresa Tunaley http://www.spectravaganza.com/2-win-06.html
Crap. Why do I always have to be the one to die? It wasn't really true, of course. All of them died from time to time, sometimes easy and sometimes not. But it did seem that Carmody "C-Mod" Wong got most of the worst deaths. This one seemed particularly galling.
Although Surveyor Wong had died twenty-seven times on twenty-seven missions, the aliens on XBR-50 wanted more than that this time. They wanted him dead for real. Dead forever. And they weren't taking "no" for an answer. Selected in September 2006 (2nd Prize - 2006 Grabber Contest) Published October 2006
